Sustainability

We may not like to think about it, but spas produce a lot of waste. Thankfully all it takes is a little forethought and planning to reduce our carbon footprint and create a healthy spa environment with less disposable items. At Mud & Lotus, I take pride in using products that are safer for the environment and create less trash than at some commercial facilities. Some examples of what I do differently are listed below:

Biodegradable Gloves

Biodegradable nitrile gloves are the first of their kind.  Using organic additives, they break down in as little as 1-5 years!  The average nitrile glove takes 100 years! For me, there is no other choice.

Prevention Disinfectants

I use hospital grade EPA-Registered Prevention here at Mud & Lotus. It is the latest innovation in disinfectants because of it's safety for the environment. Safe for septic systems, It breaks down into just water and oxygen!

Bottle-Less Options

To reduce my plastic usage, I use laundry detergent sheets by Poesie to clean all linens and hand soap fizzy refills from Flowcheer for my foaming soap bottles.

Linens over Paper

I use fresh linens wherever I can instead of paper to reduce waste and keep the spa spotless. This includes personal hand towels in the bathroom.

Climate Pledge Friendly Products from Amazon

Another textile which earns the climate pledge friendly stamp is our luxurious amethyst blankets. Whenever possible I choose Climate Pledge Friendly options on Amazon.

Repurposed Design

Look around the spa and you'll find plenty of decor that was repurposed. The white planter shown is actually a milk jug that was my grandma's, then my mom's then my brothers and now mine here in the spa! The foliage I gather from the yard every year. The decoration above was "free styled" from the house. The list goes on!
